Alberta Gets a Dedicated Series

GGPoker has confirmed a dedicated Bounty Hunters Series for its Alberta ring-fenced market, running April 5 through April 27. The Alberta edition features a Mystery Bounty Main Event and a separate schedule built specifically for the provincial player pool.

Alberta's ring-fenced market operates independently from GGPoker's global platform, meaning the Alberta series runs its own fields, guarantees, and prize pools. This is the latest in a pattern of GGPoker building Alberta-specific tournament content alongside its international schedule, following the microFestival and WSOP Super Circuit events that have run in Alberta throughout 2025 and 2026.

How Bounty Formats Work

The Bounty Hunters Series uses two primary formats that Alberta players will encounter in the dedicated series:

Progressive bounty: When you eliminate an opponent, you receive a cash prize immediately. Your own bounty grows with each knockout, creating an increasing reward for players who build deep stacks and hunt aggressively. This changes the strategic dynamic compared to standard freezeout tournaments, where the only pay-off comes from final table finishes.

Mystery bounty: Bounty values are hidden until an opponent is eliminated. Each knockout reveals a random prize, which could range from a small amount to a significant score. The variance and suspense of the mystery format has made it one of the more popular tournament structures across online poker over the past two years.

Global Series Overview

The wider Bounty Hunters Series, running on GGPoker's global platform from April 5 through April 28, carries $80,000,000 in total guarantees. The headline events on the global schedule include:

Alberta players participate in the Alberta-specific series through the GGPoker Alberta client. The Alberta schedule, guarantees, and fields are separate from the global numbers listed above.

What This Means for Alberta Players

The dedicated Alberta Bounty Hunters Series adds another recurring festival-format event to what is already the deepest tournament schedule in the province's regulated market. GGPoker's Alberta tournament ecosystem now includes WSOP Super Circuit events, microFestival series, and the Bounty Hunters Series, all running as Alberta-specific editions alongside the standard daily schedule.

Alberta's six regulated poker rooms are registered with Alberta iGaming Corporation, Alberta's stand-alone Crown agency. Players must be 18+ and physically located in Alberta to participate. For current details on GGPoker's Alberta platform, visit the operator's site directly.
