River Cree Resort & Casino, on Enoch Cree Nation land just west of Edmonton, has extended its poker room hours to 24 hours a day Thursday through Sunday, with Monday through Wednesday running 11:00am to 3:00am. The expansion, announced this week, comes as Alberta prepares for its regulated online poker market to open on July 13.
The room runs 12 tables and is the largest poker room in the Edmonton area. Poker room manager contact: 780-930-2707.
New Wednesday Tournament
Starting next week, River Cree is adding a $220 No-Limit Hold'em tournament every Wednesday at 7:00pm, targeting players who want a mid-week structured event. 20,000 starting stack, 20-minute levels, C$10 dealer contribution.
Why Now
Several Alberta casinos are quietly preparing for crossover demand once online poker launches in July. Live rooms that sit close to major metros have seen stronger traffic since January, and operators expect a short-term boost in live visits as Albertans test their new legal online options against familiar brick-and-mortar rooms.
River Cree management told the Edmonton Journal in February that the room has had record weekends on the back of the WSOP Circuit Calgary in January and the growing Alberta tournament calendar. The Wednesday addition fills the one quiet night in the schedule.
Cash Games and Structure
Standard cash games are $1/$3 and $2/$5 NLH, with $5/$10 and PLO running on weekends. The room uses a time-rake cash model on higher stakes games, and standard 10% capped rake for $1/$3.
River Cree is at 300 East Lapotac Boulevard, Enoch, AB, 25 minutes from downtown Edmonton. 18+ only.
